Why should you hire an IT Architect? The same reason you hire an industrial or residential architect before you build a house or a bridge. To make sure your needs are realized correctly. An industrial, residential, civil, or one of the other type of architect design your buildings or infrastructure before you start to build. How can you tell a group of carpenters and other types of trades to build a 20 story office building without a design. Or a house. Is your idea safe? The same applies with software and data centers.. An architect will gather the requirements, talk to end users. Write the Requirements Document, the High Level Design Document, the Detail Design Document, suggest hardware, middlware software, and operating systems. Design the database and work with a DBA to get the best data relationships, Design the user interface. Write the test cases suite. And work with the team leads and developers to see that the design is implemented correctly.

Are legacy programs keeping you from switching to Linux or UNIX?

You can now migrate nearly any language or functionality on any platform from Microsoft Windows(tm) desktops and servers, to mainframes and everything in between, to an Open Source environment through a number of compilers, interpreters, and GUI builder tools to provide all the functionality of the old system. Various commercial and free (as in speech and/or beer) databases are available to make the switch even easier.

Send email when you have a new UNIX or Linux project, a virtualization or  migration requirement.
